Wow! I really like your basket and floral arrangement! Thanks for the tip about the feminine hygiene pad.I thought that I was well past those days but I guess not. No diapers either as my son is 24.Do you have any idea how much longer this idea helps to keep your plants watered? I know that there are other variables to consider like the temperature, amount of sunlight and so on but if all things considered were equal how long do you think it might add to you not having to water them? I have a place in FL and we only visit there only like once every month or so and I have as of yet to find any plant that can survive that long. Unfortunately I don't have anyone there who can help me by watering the plants. I have pretty much resigned myself to waiting until we live there full time to have any live plants.I have considered cactus and succulents but they need water too! I do have several fake plants that I only have to dust occasionally. Not even the little geckos that get inside through the venting and AC system can survive very long without water. I have found many skeletons under the furniture.Oh well! Live and learn!:)

Hi Larose, If you are dealing with Florida weather I would suggest pulling out the big guns and mixing in a generous amount of the gel water crystals rather than trying out the pad . The pad helps to keep the soil from drying out completely in a short time. The crystals are mixed through the soil and will keep moisture available longer and at all levels of the basket which is what you would want. That said, it wouldn't last a month at a time either! ;D I'm afraid you'd still have to wait until you were there full time. It is really hard to say how much extra time you would get as those variables would dictate just how fast your basket dries out. For sure longer than without them though! Double maybe?? If you normally water every day maybe every other? (Possibly longer. It really depends. . .) Using the crystals, the pad would likely give you a less time. Hope that helps!
