I seen this project on Pintetest and knew I had to try it. I love using mason jars. I combined two projects. The first one using the Krylon Sea glass spray paint on a mason jar. I painted 5 different vases and mason jars. I painted those a few months ago. The second one was attaching a mason jar to a piece of wood. I used a cabinet door.

I forgot to take a picture of the door before I got started. So I took a picture of one in my kitchen because they look exactly the same. Minus having a door handle. Here are the supplies I used.

Supplies used.

I wiped down the door with mild soap and water. I let it dry before painting it with chalk paint. I applied 4 coats of paint.

Applying the 1st of 4 coats.

I used a blow dryer to speed up the drying process.

Shaving off a little drying time.

I then took standing paper and took the shine off. And to distress it.

Distressing it.

After standing it I wiped it down with a damp cloth. Making sure all of the sanding particles were wiped off. I then took peel and stick letters and spelled out family. I opted for these instead of the hard plastic ones in my supply picture.

It is getting to look how I envisioned.

I next attached a saw tooth hanger to the back.

The next few steps my husband did for me. I dont like drilling into metal. He drilled a hole in the metal band and the door. This is so you can attach the metal band to the cabinet door. He attached the metal band with a small nut and bolt. Insert the bolt from the front side of the band and door.

I slipped the mason jar into the metal band. I tightened the band with a screw driver. I added the flowers to the jar. Last thing was to hang it on the wall.

All done!

Hi, what kind of drill bit did your husband use to drill through the metal band? I have tried and tried to do this, but have not been successful. BTW, I love yours! Thanks!
