Ha! Now that would be fun Steve! I think I had better stick to meeting you all over at my blog where I explain how we did our cabana space. The fireplace is one of our favorites too!
Zografia, that is tough isn't it? Do you have a patio or a spot in your house you could dedicate to making your own "retreat". Even a bathroom? I know it sounds crazy. I started in my house. My first house was 800 square feet. For real.....I made it "my retreat".
it's tough Rebecca, because you can't make big changes in the house. the house we live in now is a little bigger than yours, not much. we have two balconies we can take advantage of. it's an apartment building so there is no yard or something like this. and i do not think we will ever have our own house! dreams cost nothing though! this is our dining-living room space, http://www.hometalk.com/186166/this-is-our-d..., so that you get an idea of the house!
Rebecca, I agree with Steve G and since I live closer, you and I can get together and start mixing the drinks while we wait on Steve G to arrive! Enjoy and this is stunning! Love all the tips, especially the drop cloth curtains! Who wudda thunk it!
@Rebecca - WOW !! YOU are a force to be reckoned with!! I am totally in awe of your entire Cabana Retreat!! Everything about it is really ingenious!! Hafta ask you though, what did you end up doing w/the mold stained panels you took down? I know you would not have thrown them away!! Could they have been dyed a darker color and maybe used for pillows?? Well, you did inspire me to do SOME thinking!! LOVE IT ALL!!
Zografia, your space is actually really cute! I love how you are making it home. I learned that I could do that in ANY space I have lived in. Owning or renting. Blogs are great ways to get ideas and start with your balconies! What fun retreats they can become! There are a lot of apartment owners and renters who blog about making their spaces home. Maybe that will give you some inspiration as well. I am so happy to meet you and can't wait to see what you do!
