Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Jun 07, 2012You can fasten bird spikes to the top of he light. Owl's work for about a week, then the birds start sitting on it. Home Depot sells these products. http://www.homedepot.com/buy/outdoors/garden-center/bird-x/stainless-bird-spikes-kit-10-ft-8908.html We used an owl on the propeller of our plane. As we do not want birds messing up the aircraft. It did not work at all. We installed the bird spikes on the exposed rafters over the shed hanger and it really made a difference. We even attempted to use rubber snakes and all sorts of stuff. But if its not moved around every day it just does not work over the long haul. They do make a special grease that can be applied if the fixture is protected from the sun by perhaps an overhang. This sticky stuff prevents them from landing. They do not want to get their feet dirty.Helpful Reply

Melissa K on Jun 07, 2012We had the same problem when we placed statuary in the yard. Bird droppins everywhere. One year I decided to place the shephers crook there with two hanging planters on it. Voila! The birds decided this was a no-go. One solution that came out of the blue.I have since moved the shepherds crook to another area. but they remember and told their friends not to visit.Helpful Reply

Keller Pest Control on Jun 11, 2012Go to bird barrier.com or bird be gone , they make a device called a daddy long legs that is made especially for lights. Its easy to install and may work for your needs. They also have bird wire, or bird spikes, even shock strip ,which becomes more expensive. I would not use the "hot foot or bird gel " as it does not last.Helpful Reply
