It is a nice job.. but I (personally) could see getting tired of it because it makes a big statement. Some taming down could be done by painting the frame of the chalk board (?) and the counter top a solid color
Destressing is like faux painting...sometimes a little can go a long way. Perhaps it is where you have this located that is the problem. As a focal point on a large wall, it probably might not be the same as in a smaller space where it could actually appear to be obtrusive...??? Something beautiful can appear out of place if not in the right place...
I like what you've done with this piece. Not sure about the red flower- I would hang some pretty white plates-Or something white. Of course, I like white anything......... yours is pretty
If you like it then I love it! I do some faux work for customers and always do my best to talk them out of messing with the cabinets and trim just in case they have a change of mind along the way. Think I've repaired and repainted 10 kitchens that were previously fauxed for each one I was asked to do!
A Little can go a long way, but really I like it...it looks like a throwback to a long ago time...and can transport you to that place and time our grandparent lived in.... I want to know where the pottery came from...since I'm a potter it's teh first thing I notice in commercails TV shows etc....LOL
I'm with Bill on this one...if you like then I do too! It seems like alot to me in this small picture but you also have the brown decor that matches beautifully. And your pink flowers match the wall. Can you post a picture of the whole wall, or are you not finished yet ?:)
It's so different that I really do love it.
Give it some time and if it still bothers you then change it just a little and see if that does it :)
Personally I think it's too much, but like Miriam I agree it's all in personal taste. When I refinish or make something from scratch I want it to look new, not like it's been sitting neglected in the elements for years.
I have some friends that love this wore out look and don't really care for my pristine stained

wood, however, we respect each others choices. I mean if we all liked the same things our lives, and our homes, would be very boring.
