  Both of them would be pretty as flowers. I can see them on a rod of some sort with a center (maybe a big button or piece of wood or something of the sort) and the outer areas are the petal.

Yes. They ARE trivets. I would use as that.With the holidays coming , they would really dress up a dinner table.

  I actually spray painted them and I'm using them under flower pots that i painted to match. They are really cute.

They may have held a glass dish. Since they're metal, if they were used as trivets, the heat would radiate through to the surface they are on.
