Some time ago I posted pictures of my wonderful barn quilt ... I will add one to this post so you can see what inspired this piece. My son, the artist who created these fabulous beauties, is kind enough to interpret his mom's ideas. Some are a bit "out there," I have to admit. I am so grateful he accepted this idea and challenge to create another heirloom.
INTRICATE AND BEAUTIFUL
I will post photos, since I did not do this project. I only had the idea.
THE BEGINNING
I purchased a heavy duty quality piece of plywood, 3/4 inch thick. It was cabinet quality plywood. The board is 3'x4'.
TAPE PROCESS
In the processing of taping one section. We painted it afterwards, and did another section.
More of the same.

TAKING SHAPE
It's starting to take shape.
LOOKING GOOD
Looking good!
ALMOST DONE
The last step is to make a frame (which my husband did), and put several coats of non-yellowing poly (which I did). :-)
PLACE OF HONOR
We hung the blanket with industrial chain on a spike embedded in the rock. It is extremely heavy.
PERFECT
Enjoying the view.
BARN QUILT
I love that my son doesn't think his momma's projects are impossible.
Suggested materials:
  • Wood and paint.
