Hello!
In the picture joined, you can see what's going to be my headboard.
I have an old nightstand from my grandma that I want to paint but I can't find the right color. The headboard having somber colors, I'd like something light.
Can you please help me?
Thanks by advance.
Best regards.
Valérie
This is the screen that I'm gonna use as a headboard.

I would go crazy and bling it out in a gold finish with acrylic or crystal knobs - or a French vanilla - this has very regency high end look

Hi Freckles! Thank for your reply. A light gold might be the solution. I'm not a fan of yellowish colors but I can't find anything light that could match. The screen is Venitian FYI. ;)

    Light gray but crystal knobs!

I would paint it black and trim in gold like the lower part of that screen. The screen is gorgeous, BTW. I just don't think a light color would work.

So much for that bright idea. How about a reversal of the upper colors....mostly gold with the salmon trim? Whatever you decide on, that headboard will always steal the show...absolutely amazing.

I just realized that the colors of the screen were not clearly visible in the picture. The top part is red and gold. It looks like brown but it's not.

Definitely grey. It'll pick up the tones of the center panel accent. I'm feeling some chalk paint here.

How about an off-white, the color of the edges of the screen and the column in the middle of the screen, with accents of gold. Then paint gold designs to match the ones on the screen, in the middle of the top, and/or the middle of the drawer front(s).
  • It depends on your decor but just doing a white wash and then doing the highlights in a metallic would look very chic.

    White

Why not dry brush gold over a red or black? Or even over a wood finish?

depending on your nightstand, if it has drawers paint the top same color as the top of the screen and the bottom half the same color as the bottom of the screen then add gold lines to trim it. Or just black with gold accents

Maybe metallic gold all over, or with mirrored drawer fronts. Hard to say without seeing what the nightstands look like.

cream with dry brushing of gold

I see what looked like a light greenish color in the middle of the top screen. How about that with gold accents?

Hello J.! Thanks for your reply. Sorry to be difficult but I really don't like the color green.

What is the color of your wall? It might help you visualize the color that will match your project

Beautiful screen and what a great idea for a headboard! Do you think the nightstand can be sanded and matched to the wood on the screen? I would keep it neutral as others have suggested and let the screen stand out.

Hello Judy! Sorry I don't get what you mean by "the wood on the screen". The screen is entirely paint in red, black and gold. The nightstand is an old wooden one from the 1940's with a beige marble top. I want to give it a modern look.

Nick, Very hot! lol I think people are still recovering from the tragedies last month. But it seems the city will be better than ever as I see people coming together and working to improve the city in multiple ways. I would not recommend a visit until at least Mid September though, unless sauna's are really your thing.

I miss coming there very nice people and a very clean city. I hope everyone recovers from that terrible tragedy. Nsimeo8@gmail.com

Dear Bee Reader, Many prayers for your country. What style are the nightstands? What items are you planning to place on your nightstands? What colored items, i.e., lamps, etc? That may help you decide what paint or stain color to use. Keep it neutral so it won't compete with your beautiful screen.

Oh ok! It looks as though the wood around the screen is nude. I would say paint the wood of the stand black. Then leave the beige marble alone. Put a red scarf that matches the red in the screen over the marble if you wish to cover it. But if you like it then a smaller scarf that lets the marble peek out would be nice. Then a small gold lamp on top, or some gold accessories.

Antiqued white with the top painted in red to look like old leather.

Agree with Carla. Remember grandma, add a touch of gold scroll (her initials worked in and featured) to the nightstand to match the headboard. Love the joined screen!

Hello Bee, I think a light grey with silver accents and crystal knobs would look fabulous, and still pop!
