I have a faux rock fountain by by my front door and would like ideas on how to "dress" it up without looking cheesy (artificial flowers ).

I painted mine, each rock a different grey, brown, taupe mixture. Actually turned out great. I just used leftover exterior latex paint and it's still there with no peeling 10 years later!

If your fountain is in a flowerbed, plant some pretty annuals around it, paying attention to whether it is in sun or shade and getting plants that like those conditions. If the fountain is on a deck or porch, pot up those pretty annuals and nestle them around the fountain!

The fountain is free standing. Faux stone, and sitting on my concrete entryway. Thanks for your post. I should have been clearer.

Use floating live plants, like water hyacinth, or water lettice. They are carefree, as long as you keep the water fresh.
