This is my new fence

I spent about 6 months collecting old doors from friends and salvage yards and then mounted them on privacy fence frame. I also clear coated them so that they wouldn't weather wear. I love that each door has it's own story and looking at it reminds me of all of my different friends who contributed.

Thanks to those of you who said nice things... we live in a community where art is strongly pushed and I also live on a private dirt road so only a few have to suffer through my creativity. The rest of my garden is full of whimsical and repurposed things, I only took pictures of my doors. Obviously it intriges more people than not because in one day I've had over 1,200 views.

My house is not modern, just new. As I finish more projects I will be sure to continue posting. Thanks!

Wow 1200 views is incredible. I bet there will be a shortage of recyclable doors now! LOL

love this idea. reminds me of a fence that i saw on kauai island where some used old surfboards. now you just need to name each door like if you would go through it where would you be? i.e. oz, wonderland, never never land, nirvana, etc.

I think if you could paint them some color ,it could be piece of art. I guessu can you can enter your yard through any one of them, that is fun!

Amanda, keep posting and remember everyone has different tastes. The trick is to try to appreciate someone else's tastes even if it is not yours. And if the doors each have their own story, that is part of the art.

I think the doors look cool, but I would prefer that they were all the same color, perhaps white. That way they would show off the pattern of the doors instead of the fact that they were doors. Just my thought. Very creative

It's your yard and if you like and want it, keep it. My housing association wouldn't approve, but then I'm supposed to get their pemission to put up a garden shed or a clothesline. Phoey on them. I think your fence is really unique and showcases your talents and friendships.

While I love ingenuity, I feel like any number of people could come through those doors at any time....makes me nervous.

I love how you used all of those doors in your project, perfect way to recycle something that may have ended up in the landfill.

I appreciate creative use of bits and pieces of reclaimed property however I dont care for this at all. Maybe it would not be so tacky if it were all one color. That way one could appreciate the architecture of your found treasures

My neighbors would totally have a heart attack if I did something like that. So would my hubby, to tell you the truth. I appreciate the creativity, but that really isn't something I would enjoy.

I'm jealous that you were able to get your hands on so many nice 5 panel doors. I'd love to turn those into some of my headboards!

I love this!! .....The trouble with this world right now is that most people think you should do things, not the way you like them, but the way they like them. Don't listen to the negatives.....they are idiots!!!

i like it but also think it should be all one color.doesn't matter what color. with the several different colors I think it looks to much like a junk yard,

I like the different colors. The last photo reminds me of clothes on a clothes line with all the different colors, heights, and textures.

Oh my, our city code would never allow such a unique expression! Is there one of those doors that serves as a gate? Very fun!
