Each and every month, my bloggy gal pals and I participate in the Monthly DIY Challenge, which is where we all work with a common theme, item, or company and see what cool stuff we can create! For the month of July we worked with The Leather Hide Store.
We were each given a section of leather in our choice of color. To make a modern leather book and magazine holder, you'll need a pair of sturdy scissors, a ruler and pen, a wooden or plastic ring, a glue gun, and a stapler.
Cut 2 equal strips of leather. To create the holder, loop through the wooden or plastic ring and hot glue the ends together. Add a staple to each glued area for additional strength. This holder is for lighter books and magazines - if you intend to hang heavier items additional reinforcement may be needed. For full instructions head to my blog!
Et voila! A beautiful and modern book and magazine holder that looks great hanging on the wall. I love how it's functional but also almost works as a piece of art.
