What might be wrong with my tomatoes?

Valerie on Jul 22, 2016Your tomatoes are lacking magnesium. Just sprinkle Epsom Salt around your tomato plants and this will help the "bottom rot" on your tomatoesHelpful Reply

Dee8582532 on Jul 22, 2016Actually, I learned that if you put a tablespoon of Epsum Salt in the hole, then the tomatoes plant, it keep the black rot or bottom rot away. I have been doing this the past 3 years and have great tomatoes.Helpful Reply

Cathy on Jul 23, 2016If it is slugs, crush up egg shells and sprinkle all around your tomato plants---they will also help add calcium if you have blossom end rot. It really helps to put egg shells and the salts in the hole before you plant your tomatoes--remember that for next summer.Helpful Reply

Chase on Jul 23, 2016Blossom end rot is caused by several things, inconsistent water, lack of calcium and magnesium. Apply side dressing of Espoma fertilizer for tomatoes or veggies followed by a good soaking. Egg shells are great (crushed) but take a long time to break down.Helpful Reply

Lisa Falkenthal on Jul 23, 2016If it is slugs they can be trapped with beer in a saucer, or try diatomaceous earth to irritate and drive them elsewhere.Helpful Reply

Tina on Jul 23, 2016what kind of weather are you having this year. if it is dry and hot , that is the problem, not enough water will cause this kind of growth, slugs didn't do this, but putting old dry coffee and crushed egg shells is very good for your soil, yes, it keeps slugs and ants away. try watering your tomatoes more at least a good inch a couple times a week , and it looks like a little sun scald, not enough leaves. hope this helps.Helpful Reply

Connie Hoge on Jul 23, 2016They think they're Pokemons. Seriously though, yes, slugs are feasting on them. That's the holes. Mosaic is a virus. The splotchy colors could be that, our could be where Brown Marmorrated Stink Bugs have been sipping tomato juice. Trap the slugs or use the kind of slug bait that has iron in it(only poisons slugs& snail) . The circle on top is the top, right? If there is a big black splotch on the bottom that would be blossom end rot. In order to stop that you must water your tomatoes regularly every day. Usually there's enough calcium in the soil, the plants just don't get enough because of drying out.Helpful Reply
