DIY State Wall Decor

I’ve been looking for some art for my bathroom and saw a frame with burlap in the middle for $12 at Hobby Lobby. I’m pretty sure it was meant to be a bulletin board, but I thought I could paint something on it to make it work.
Here's how it looked when I picked it up.
I first did a Google image search for “Illinois Silhouette”. I just picked the one that I thought was the most clear and printed it off my computer. I made it pretty big – it ended up printing on 4 pages. I matched up the 4 pages and taped them together. I traced the big state onto a large piece of white paper. (I always keep a large roll of white paper in my house, because I use it ALL the time. Like this one from Amazon)
When I was done tracing, I used an Exacto Blade to cut out Illinois from by big piece of paper. I taped the negative space from the state onto my frame and burlap and spray painted it white.
The edges didn’t come out as crisp as I had hoped, so I grabbed a white paint pen and went around the edges.
After that was all dry, I hot glued a heart shaped button over where we live.
Then I hung it in our bathroom!

This would be easy to do with any state. Great gift for a family member or friend! My mother-in-law suggested it would be cute on a pillow, too. I agree!
