Metal Dog Gate Repurposed Into Decorative Garden Accent

My friend was on her way to Goodwill with this gate when she offered it to me. I thought I could make it work. There was no way to push it into the soil and keep it standing so we added two Rustoleum spray painted rebar pieces connected to the gate using a clear, plastic zip tie. This fall I plan to add a slow growing flowering climber!

Repurposed metal dog gate now a decorative garden accent in our raised herb bed.
Spray painted rebar attached to the gate provides the "spike" to hold the gate in the soil.
Another view of the gate.

I had to take a metal bed frame out of a property along with a bunch of other crap and figured that I would either give it to the son-in-law to sell at one of his garage sales or put it out for the metal scrappers to just take. I was out filling the bird feeders and turned to walk back to the house. The wind had moved the mattress that was mostly covering it and inspiration hit me. I was going to use it for trellises which I needed to go buy anyway. Yes I will need to add rebar or posts but I think the different pieces of the bed will be cool. Not sure yet whether I will paint it or not.

Oh boy does that have possibilities!! You have so many pieces that your could almost make a walk through trellis out of it....or side by side, flat series of trellis on the side of a garden. Let us know what you end up making okay? Post it here and on Flea Market Gardening too-a great junk in the garden site.
