I planted several of these last year in a different area & this one moved itself between a cement walkway and cement border so I can't move it. I will soon plant more in a nicer area.
Susan S & Leida R - the project I attempted was to buy seeds & make tons of those unusual flowers so I could send seeds to some hometalk sweethearts. Well, the seeds grew exceptionally well but now most of the plantings failed miserably. Some are still alive but only merely alive. Maybe they will move to a place they like?
awwwww! Well if they turn out to be perrieniels (I'm pretty sure I just murdered the spelling of that one) then maybe they'll come back. I don't know how you tell in Fl. since I'd think you practically have a 12 mo. growing season. Maybe the seeds are still viable (the new ones produced on the existing plants) so hopefully you'll see a bunch of new ones pop up like the stray one did!!
Waaaaa, Susan, I don't know if the original plant was annual or perennial - I just know I bought a few small plants & the one I posted came back after last winter. I also failed Dragons blood sedum seeds - Bought 5000 and now have 4 miserable looking things. I'm waiting until I see what they should have looked like. Don't give up on me!
Sherrie S, and Susan S, you both are just tooo FUNNYYY!!! LOL!!! Susan, one, and the plants can sure feel when is Winter time here in Tampa. IT GETS COLD!!!, and I don't think plants really grow during this period. A lot of them get cold burn. : (
Leida - Probably a common misconception for those of us who live further NORTH. I guess we think it's always 80 degrees at least, down there. If I'd really thought about it I do know better. We "hear" about the cold getting all the orange groves etc.
@Sherrie - you bought 5000 WHAT? Seeds, plants? Whatever - good grief that a whole buncha something to only end up w/4 surviviors. I promise I will NOT give up on you - I know eventually

you'll have a proliferation of something coming up. (Frogs?)
PS to Leida - sure hope the path of Issac decides to go much further to the west. All week our weather people have had it potentially getting Tampa a good wallop but now looks perhaps it won't be as close as they initially thought! I'm trying to watch out for you!!
HAHAHAHAHA!!! Susan S, when ever I read your comments, I just burst out laughing!!! By the way, I actually think we will be pretty safe around here with the Tropical Storm/Hurricane. Thank God!!!
so glad to hear that you'll most likely be safe Leida! My family lives near Fort Myers, well not really near but kinda...about a 45min drive. I only say that because no one's ever heard of Rotunda West so I like to give some frame of reference. so anyway, I'm still watching the weather channel :\
Leida R, I know you won't see Isaac. The last time the hurricane center told Tampa residents to go to Central Florida to get away from that hurricane it followed the Tampa people to Central Florida & gave us the hurricane. Leida, please stay home.
Susan S, I bought 5000 seeds not plants. I must assume 4996 were bad seeds and only 4 were good. I think I'll quit buying plants/seeds on the internet. I have a really great nursery in my neighborhood.
@Leida - glad to know you and other HT friends in Tampa seem to be safe so far. I'm so glad I can be a source of amusement for you!! ;~)
@Sherrie - I think it will be hysterical of these things ALL come up next spring!! They might just be sleeping right now!!
@Marg - at least I knew - I was just too lazy to look it up right then. I used to be able to

spell almost anything you could throw @ me but I swear, anymore. . . . not so much. Musta damaged a few brain cells along the way!! Actually, I think it's a case of use it or lose it. Saying it and writing it are two different things!! Thanks for having my back girlfriend!!! Luv u too!! (note a slight twinge of sarcasm)
Sherrie S, just remember that this plant has a mind of her own, and those seeds could also be tricking u to later on all come out. THAT WOULD BE A BIG LAUGH. LOL!!!
Sherrie S, HAHAHA!!! ABOUT THE LAST HURRICANE, I sure remember that. I didn't go anywhere, but some of my extended family members did go out that way, and they came back very upset to say the least.
@Becky - well, here b the problem. My laptop died a few months ago and my hunny is graciously "allowing" me the use of his which is now about 99.9% of the time. AND, he even allows the 8yr. old granddaughter the priviledge of playing her games on it when she's here. We've inadvertently corrupted it w/enough stuff so I figure I'd better not go screwing around changing anything permanent - ya know? I do have spell check when Im sending emails and I can go to the tool bar dictionary - I

just plain ole don't feel like being perfect all the time!!!
@Sherrie - bring 'em on Honey - I'll find someplace to put 'em. That really should make a pretty display - a great big bunch of poinsettia plants - WOW!!
@Sherrie - well clearly I was referring to YOU - and so humble too!! LOL
Yeah, I did notice y'all dodged the bullet this time. Now the poor people over in the gulf just have to sweat it out!! This very same exact time last year we had our earthquake - the epicenter was like maybe 10 mi. from us and then right on the heels of that hurricane Irene came up the coast! Fortunately, no damage to speak of from either event except we lost our gorgeous decorative plum

tree. The constant force of the wind over the course of hours on end just slooooooly laid the tree right on over - and missed the garage. Whew!!
I believe this is a summer poinsettia plant! I first seen it in myrtle beach, sc. An old lady told me about then after I walked past here yard and went back to ask her about them. She gave me seeds, but I never could get them to sprout. I sure would love some seeds fron this flower! Be well..Nan
Nancy Traylor, you are correct it is a summer poinsettia I bought at my local nursery last year. Then one rebloomed this year. So I decided to buy seeds & got nothing but failure. I'll have to wait until next year & buy the plants again. They are beautiful & unusual.

yes you surely did murder the Perennial Susan!

Notice to Susan S: no USPS mail.

Did you notice that we really haven't had a hurricane here or in Tampa. So far, so good.
