Recycled Liquor Bottle Shelf Unit

I'm lucky enough to have a friend employed as a bartender, so when I have a project that requires a lot of bottles, I ask him for empties. Last year it was wind chimes, this year it's a shelf unit.
I found the shelves at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore; there were eight of them and I will be building another unit when I get some more bottles. Maybe I should start drinking!
Although most people wouldn't want to showcase this in their homes, there is hardly an easier way (bricks and boards, maybe) to put together some storage. The only tool I needed was my power drill with a hole cutter bit attached. I used 4 shelves and 16 bottles to create this masterpiece, and while it will never be a family heirloom, it does its job keeping sewing supplies organized acceptably. I will be filling the bottles with sand for added stability (the large bottles don't need it, but the beer bottles do).
Although I spent nine or ten dollars on the shelves, the same lovely effect could be achieved with boards or plywood lying around. Then it would be "rustic."
You probably wouldn't want to display this shelf unit in your living room, but it is serviceable for the basement, attic, or barn.
Sewing supplies have found a home with Captain Morgan and friends.

You have a great "recycle/upcycle" mind! This is a great idea and maybe if the bottles were painted or filled with colored sand, they would make great funky decorating.
