SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: We're going LIVE on Facebook inside Deb's Modern French Farmhouse to get some incredible DIY inspiration! Click here to tune in today (Wednesday) at 1PM EST. Can't wait to see you there!
Welcome to my home! We moved into our house just about 3 years ago. It was a 1980's colonial style home here in NJ. I like to say was...because three years later the 80's are barely sticking around. The Modern Farmhouse look has taken over with a charming wood screen door to lead the way.
Being a young couple, and first time homeowners my husband and I decided to create a space we love but in an affordable way. Mostly using our good ol' hands and some DIY touches.
Since I love neutral colors and lots of black and white contrast, you will see most of our home done with this color scheme. I just love a bright and airy feel with a relaxing and cozy vibe.
I of course have adapted to the modern farmhouse look over time, and just love the cozy and laid back feel it adds to our house. I also love a French Rustic feel, which I think works hand in hand.
Did I mention I love textures? I think great design is when great textures are combined in a space. The Faux grass cloth wallpaper used in our Dining room is always a hit. I think I may be growing out of love with it, but that's because I have decorating A.D.D. haha keeping something for 3 years when you're a decorator is not easy to do.
Classic subway tiles will never get old around here. I can't wait to add more to my home. Doing this wall a few months back made such a dramatic difference in the space, and I love the custom (affordable) marble shelves we added.
The concrete Ardex Feather Finish Counters have not only gave us that farmhouse-y look to our kitchen, but also were extremely affordable to create.
Adding vintage pieces adds character to the home and of course re-finishing the furniture and adding extra "chippiness" is always awesome.
We recently added this additional counter space and cabinets with some hand-me-down cabinets from my parents. We painted them to match the rest of the kitchen and added more concrete counters and subway tile. It feels like my little french bakery.
Off the Kitchen is our very small, but very cozy family room. It's definitely not always this neat, but we are ALWAYS in this space; me, the hubby, our two kids, and the dog.
You should see the before of this space. Just imagine oak paneling and no mantel and some very red bricks. It's come a long way and mostly due to lots of paint.
My bedroom is one of the few rooms we added color to. I've always been a huge fan of blue and it was a perfect choice for a soothing feel in here. We added a DIY barn door and some painted vintage furniture pieces, along with a faux brick chimney and vintage mantel.
And my daughters room is the last stop here. It's pretty in pink with some painted vintage pieces and gorgeous white ruffled bedding. A princess' dream. I'll skip on sharing my sons room since what was a very adorable transportation room is now a lego's and pokemon mess. I think a little updating and some much needed organizing will create for a future hometalk reveal.

Love it. Elegant yet comfortable not an easy combo to achieve but you did beautifully. Noticed the curtain fabric on porch. This is something I'd love to do for privacy and sun protection on a patio space. What kind of fabric did you use? How is it holding up? Thank you!

Is there a special trick to painting paneling. And where did you get that darling couch in the family room. Love your house and all your ideas.

Would love to know where you purchased your screen door and was it custom made? I am in the market and finding it hard to find anything I love!
