    @Diana Kremenliff, dumb question but what do you mean dry brush?

      My thoughts on that would be to dip just the tips of the brush in paint and then wipe most of that off on the edge of the can. Brush the wood with the (nearly dry) paint brush. Repeat steps when all the paint is gone from the brush. There will be very little paint on the wood.
