Vintage Sewing Pattern Wreath

I've had a pile of vintage sewing patterns for quite a while just waiting for the perfect project. And, while this was easy, be warned that it was pretty time consuming! I started by cutting pieces of the patterns and accordion folded them. Typically, when I make wreaths I make sure that every piece is the same size. Not so with this one. I just randomly cut pieces, so some were long and thing, short and wide, etc... and I really like the depth and interest this gave to the wreath. Once each piece was folded properly, I again folded them in half and hot glued the fold to my wreath form (as typical, I made one out of sturdy cardboard.) I continued until the wreath was full and even looking.

Carol Rigney on Feb 01, 2014I am going to try this for my sewing room. What a cute idea. I have lots of patterns I will never use because I can never throw them away. Great job on yours!

Sew2546074 on Oct 18, 2015Very cute but I could never do this. lol I rescue and collect old patterns. Clever project though. And yes, I have many old patterns dating from the late 1800's on. Maybe pad my coffin with them? :)
