A Fireplace Make-over

I couldn't stand this fireplace! Check out my blog (Before & After Fireplace) for instructions on how the make-over was done. At least I can live with it now, which important, since the TV sits on the mantel, so it is always in view.

Now it appears more balanced. And, I am not hauling wood, so I added candles.
Mantle too high, weird columns set within the tile, ugly brass surround. The stuff sitting on the mantle just landed there as I brought stuff over. This is a second home.
