Train Caboose Bunk Bed

I live with a bunch of train fanatics, so built the boys a train caboose bunk bed. I used an HO scale model railroad caboose as the model, and designed it from the inside out, as I went along, using twin mattress measurements as a guide. The electrical work was done by my husband..

You are wonderful parents to do all this work for your children. It could not be nicer. God bless loving parents that the children might follow in their parent's footsteps.

What I like about this whole project, not only that its really neat, but that it appears that your children played a part in helping you construct it! That is what makes memories for a lifetime!

wow that is awesome... truly.... now what I am trying to figure out is... once the beds were in place... are the cubbies sort of a headboard? accessable? just trying to figure out the layout with mattress's in place but this is truly great.. NICE WORK!!

Way better than the race car beds from the store. You two are the greatest parents for making your kids so happy. It will also help them want to go to bed at night!

Thanks! The inside, lower bunk is accessible from both short ends. The cubbies are along the outside long wall. The false bottoms of the cubbies are just above the mattress height.

must be hard trying to change the sheets. I'll bet you can't wait until they're old enough to do it on their own :)

Sorry, I don't have plans; I just made it up as I went along. I started with the dimensions of a twin-sized mattress and built out from there.
