Living Room Reveal

We living in a very basic starter home that lacks personality. With a lot of DIYing and repurposing of furniture, we were able to to update our basic living room into something special to us. It's colourful and cozy, and totally kid & dog friendly (has to be in our house!). If you'd like to see more before and after pics please visit http://www.aswellplacetodwell.com/2012/04/li...

Looks very comfy. I like the brown tones. Makes it very warm. Love the bison pictures. Not what I would expect to see in Hawaii. Did you take them?

Oh, I don't live in Hawaii. I live in Alberta, Canada. It's a long story, but hometalk won't accept Canadian postal codes, so I just picked a random zip code and it ended up being Hawaii! The photographer who took them is named Lucy Snowe - she has an awesome shop on etsy.com.

That's really funny. Didn't look very Hawaiian. I will have to look into Lucy's work. Really cool stuff.

Nice job. I see you have a Fiddle Leaf fig - any tips on growing them? I would have thought it would do better near the window since they like the light. How long have you had yours?

Love the brown with a pop of red here and there! I heading to look for that photographer next. The buffalo pics are close to what I have been looking for to put in my bedroom.

Michelle - we've had our Fiddle Leaf Fig for about 3 months...and so far it's doing great. I chose not to put it too close to the windows because we have big temperature fluctuations near our windows and in the winter and it can get quite cold close to them. I don't do much to it....just water it once a week or so, making sure it's not too wet and never gets dry. I also dust the leaves. It's growing like mad.
