Hello, I am not sure if you are wanting to hand pain or spray paint using a stencil, but if you want to hand paint I googled what is the best paint to hand paint on metal outdoor furniture, and I found this page. https://www.createforless.com/buying-guides/crafts/craft-paint.aspx There is a bunch of different kinds of paints and they give explanations for each one. I am not an expert, I used to paint when I was a teenager and forgot everything I used to know. You can order stuff off of here but I am sure you can get it at Michaels, Joanns or Hobby Lobby also. Alot of these say you don't have to use a sealer on them, but if you are keeping it outdoors I would, but I would ask at the store when you are getting the paint if the paint will run when you spray the sealer on it. Some do with certain sealers I do remember that from my teenaged years. If you are going to spray paint with a stencil, there are a bunch of different brands of spray paint out there that say if its for outdoor furniture and if it will help prevent rust or not. I know that in spraypaint they have all sort of different types of finishes metallic, glitter, like the hammered metal type, I just looked at them trying to find a hi heat one for a project my husband is working on. I hope some of this helps you. I would love to see the finished project!

I'd use tried and true Rustoleum. It has so many colors and if you want to do anystencils, you can always cover it with the clear poly urethane.

Wonderful Rustoleum spray, comes also in plain, textured or Hammered all covers fast and easy, must spray outside though on a plastic sheet to protect your grass or whatever is underneath....also do not do this on a windy day...a nice calm sunny day is best, sun and heat dries this quickly...I did my wicker furniture, metal bench etc...love this product!!

Rustoleum. When dry, lay a doily on top (centered) and spray paint with different color. Immediately remove doily very carefully.

Decided not to use spray paint as I will be painting indoors, so bought all-purpose bottled paint at a craft store.

  • Rustoleum or Krylon for metal with a primer and you'll be good. You can use a stencil with spray paint, just use a lot of tape to cover anything you don't want misted with paint!

If it is metal I would usually go with a Rustelom product.
