Steamer Trunk With Hotel Labels

I gave an old steamer trunk a face lift with some vintage hotel labels.
I bought this trunk for $5.00 at a garage sale.
I cleaned the hardware with a mixture of vinegar and salt. It was copper underneath. Score!
I made photo copies of vintage hotel labels that were my Great Grandfathers from the early 1900's. Using Mod-Podge I added them to the outside of the trunk.
I love the additional character the labels bring to this piece!
I also repaired the missing leather handles by cutting apart an old belt with a utility knife, sliding it through the existing hardware and anchoring it with small screws.
To finish, I gave the exterior of the piece a coat of paste wax. I love it!

    Cute idea! Ive got one from 1865 with the baggage tickets still pasted on. As soon as I peel of the old oilcloth and wax the wood, I would love to add some of those cute labels! Its not being sold so Im not concerned about the antique value, just the look:}
