Southern pine degraded.

I think this may interest some of those who do a lot of building. It will effect your costs and quality of your work.

    SYP is also the leader in raw material for PT (pressure treated) wood...i'm not too surprised however...since fast growth has been the trend...it yields more money for the producer. Old growth timber with many growth rings per inch can be seen in lot of old lumber I have come across in remodels. The saying they just don't build em like the used to...has a lot to due with the raw materials
  • Totally agree. I always knew there was a drawback with the tree farming. Although something we must do, but I am surprised that it took so long for them to realize this was occurring. What prompted me to post this was the posting from another Hometalk member asking about sap coming from their deck boards.
