Old Vanity Bench

I was thinking about redoing this old bench that was down my Dad's house. I was thinking about stripping off the veneer, cleaning it, sanding it down, re-staining it, and putting a new seat and fabric on it....any ideas?? How would I remove the veneer????

Have you been looking at any of the chalk painting, or milk paints, (Annie Sloan) and then waxing??? That would be cute too.

Look on the bottom of the chair to see if there are any markings on it as it could be worth something.
