When my son was three we made birthday cards for grandparents like this: I made "stamps" for him out of Irish potatoes according to what designs he wanted, then we used flour, water, and food coloring to make "tempera paint." I put the paint into paper plates and let him stamp his designs on construction paper. His name and a drawing finished up the inside.
