They are heirlooms and I hate to throw them out and my decorating style is not homespun.

I would try to cut a good section from each quilt and make wall hangings out of them, or have someone do it for you because they are heirloom.

If they are truly heirlooms then pass them on to someone who can appreciate them

My husband had a quilt from his grandmother that he used on his twin bed his whole childhood. when various squares became so frayed that it was not useable, I wanted to preserve the history. I made 12 Christmas Christmas stocking using the quilt front on the front of the stocking. I used the solid blue quilt framing for the 4 inch top of the stocking (had the grandchildren's names embrodiered

If you have an old round table, like the kind with 3 legs, make it into a table cloth then put a clear plastic table cloth on top. You can get shower curtains that might work for cheap. Set some pretty plants on it and you have a very nice corner to admire.

Oh, I just thought of something else. Cut it into smallish squares that would fit inside a smallish embroidery hoop. Then, once it's in, make a pretty little printed sign that says "You are Sew Special"...or "After 50 it's just patch patch patch"!!

Sell them to someone who would reinvent them with a view to their history.

They make awesome Christmas stockings for Grands and great Grands. Be sure to attach a little tag inside telling the era and the maker of the quilt.

If homespun is not your style, and you want to preserve the quilts in their original configuration, here's a thought: purchase, or have made, duvet covers that fit the quilts. You can slip them inside and use them as throws or as coverletts. You will have a useful object, and future generations might find them more interesting. I am in a similar situation; no direct heirs and little interest from the cousins. Good luck with your projects. BTW, old quilts are very salable, especially if they are in a desired pattern. You might contact an antique dealer that specializes in fabrics for guidance or sale.

Cut them into the size of a picture frame and frame them. Give them to family members as gifts. Write family history and place on back of frame.

Do you have a photo of the person who made them? Do like one person said cut them into different pieces, add a photo of the person who created each quilt then frame them. They would make wonderful gifts and will be treasured for years to come.
