Start with making a mixture of baking soda and white vinegar. Leave on overnight which should help get the grease loosened up enough. If need be use a plastic scrapper.

You can buy a commercial degreaser at Sam's Club called Pro Force. I use it on apartment stoves they haven't cleaned for a year. Or any good oven clean will work. Wear gloves and a mask when using any of it.

Soak orange peels in white vinegar in glass jar in refrigerator for 5 days. Pour liquid onto soiled area and allow to sit overnight. Worth a try before using smelly oven cleaners

Soak area in ammonia overnight. The smell is horrible so place paper towels over and cover the top area with a large plastic bag and tape off, as well as ventilate the area. Use a plastic scraper after the soak and then try some extra duty Dawn, not just regular. It comes in a spray pump bottle and it works like a degreaser. You might have to repeat it several times but it will finally come clean. Be careful not to slouch the liquids down the gas line. That would not be good! You should clean around that area with a Q-tip or toothbrush. When you're done bring it back to its beautiful shine with a rub down of white vinegar.

Also don't get the cleaner on the burner itself it will arc it or discolor it. I would use a razor and a small automotive brush along with the oven cleaner or degreaser. I looked at the picture and saw the burner and knew oven cleaner would discolor It I should have paid better attention earlier.

to avoid all the chemical smells, i suggest you make a paste of baking soda (start with about a cup) and water, apply to all area and let it soak for maybe an hour b4 removing with a blue sponge. The scratcher side of blue sponge w/n scratch. You may want to spray on some 50/50 water/vinegar solution if it dries out. It will also help to life the grime. When you reach a "near perfect" surface, use Barkeepers scrubbing powder. No smells whatever, till u get to the vinegar. As for the grates, those you can put in a large plastic bag w/about 1/4 cup ammonia, set outside for 2-3 hours, rinse off, and use same sponge to hit the hard places.

Yes soak it in a baking soda paste, and use a steel wool scrubber, then rinse when it gets really dirty, and repeat, it should be gone after scrubbing a couple times.

Mix up a solution of 1 T of Dishwasher powder in a quart of hot water. Place washrags over the spot and soak rag with solution. Let set an hour or so. Then use a 3M scrubby or steel scrubber. Should come up, though you may need to repeat.

Try a product called Citra Solv. I used this to remove tar from my husbands jeans when he worked on a tar roofing team. It took gum from my hair and my dogs fur.
