DIY Kitchen Makeover. Painted Counters, Backsplash, Cabinets. Epoxy

Isabelle C.
by Isabelle C.
My kitchen was dark and depressing. Always wanted a white kitchen so, without sanding my cabinets, primed (STIX primer from BMoore) and painted the cabinets and backsplash. Also painted countertops and finished by putting epoxy on the backsplash and countertops.
Before: dark, gloomy, beige....MESSY! ha! ;)
AFTER: Painted just about everything!

Painted cabinets, backsplash, countertops and epoxied counters and backsplash!

What order did you do your painting in? Did you epoxy and paint the counters first, then the cabinets? Or did you do the cabinets first, then the counters? I am looking into doing something similar and am curious about the best order to complete the tasks in. Also, I don't currently have a tile back splash, but am wanting to put one in. Should this be done last? Thank you! Looks beautiful!

I just had epoxy covered counters put in a week ago. I'm almost regretting it since to have someone else do it professionally was kind of expensive...I see fine scratch lines on it...now that it's been awhile do you still love your counters? I love how your kitchen turned out by the way, the tile backsplash is incredible!

Sorry, I didn't see your whole first reply at first! Thank you for the tip about the iron, I like that idea! Our contractor said to use a hairdryer and the fine grit sandpaper.

Beautiful job! I am glad I ran across your post. I am going to epoxy my countertop and backsplash ( both are Formica) and was concerned about the epoxy not coating the front of the backsplash. I figured it would just run off and puddle in the corner. Thanks for letting me know how to do it.
