Any suggestions for making shelves for this unit?

This is our shop counter. I want to use this as a storage for books.

will it stand on its end? flat end down with curve toward the wall, then you could open the front and put shelves there.

IF you want to use both counters/cabinets, I would line them up side by side. If adjustment is needed by shortening one to match the other, then I would do that. Use correct size of wood to place a strip of wood on the end with no wood there. Then cut boards to fit inside to make a divider to strengthen and mount those on the inside Then make the correct size shelves to fit inside. I hope this makes sense to you. I know how to do it, but have trouble telling someone HOW to do it. Helen

Is it open in the back? Maybe turn it around, paint and dress up inside, and drill holes to make sheves from the back side.

You state this your shop counter, so you are using it or is it one you changed out and is sitting waiting to be used? If your not using it as a counter then I would stack it and remove it so you could get to the storage. It looks like you have storage under the counter for book storage, correct?

I am guessing That one side is open . I don't think that any good carpenter would have a problem with this project . but if that is not the case , i would suggest that you decide how many shelves you would want . i think what i would do is make the straight run first , then mark your radius next and cut those shelves . repeat all until you have the number of shelves desired .

stand them up on end and lean against the wall, put a couple screws in to keep them from falling. They will look VERY 50,s looking. then just screw shelves in through each of the sides, or in this case the top and bottom. This could be a lot of fun. The bottom part, where the bend is, you could put a top on, and use it as a place to sit, look at the books, or just more books, etc.
