Turn Baskets Into Produce Storage

8 Materials
Each month, 11 of my friends and I do a Monthly DIY Challenge. We pick a theme or challenge item and each make our own creative project.
This month's theme was painted projects using a spray shelter provided by HomeRight. I decided it was the perfect opportunity to spray paint some baskets I had laying around and turn them into a DIY countertop produce stand. I love my new farmhouse style storage for fruits and vegetables!
I started with two nested woven baskets. I removed the handles using pliers.
I followed the directions for my Finish Max paint sprayer to thin my paint. Then I sprayed both baskets inside of the spray shelter using slow even strokes and stopping at each side to avoid drips.
I used screws and hex nuts to attach a piece of lattice trim to the back of the baskets to hold the top basket up.
I stained a piece of wood and wrote the word "produce" using my absolute favorite method for transferring text. favorite method for transferring text . Then, I used super glue to attach the label to the top basket.

I ended up needed to add an additional support under the top basket using some of the extra lattice trim.
I really love my new produce storage! Perfect for a rustic or farmhouse kitchen!

You mentioned that you put a second support for the top basket. I would like to see where you put it . Was it in the back or under the bottom?

I"ve seen so many of these spray tents used on home talk but none of them has any paint which you would think would be the case. It should look like a rainbow of color in there. Is there a reason for that?
    • This project was my first time using the spray tent, so there was not any paint stains in it yet. It's now covered in paint!
