19th Century Jelly Cupboard Transformation

by White Oak Studio Designs
This piece was a challenge! Start with an oil covered old cupboard and end up with a nice primitive cabinet. This piece took many months as it was cleaned, aired out, sprayed with Basic G, sanded, painted, and stained. But I am happy with the results of my labor. It was a lot of fun to stage and photograph too. The details and many "before and after" photographs can be seen on my blog; http://smallhouseunderabigsky.wordpress.com/2013/08/09/primitive-cupboard-score/
Staged as a storage cupboard for this photograph, this jelly has its door taken off for this picture.
The blue cupboard was perfect for showing off some of my vintage crock collection and blue mixing bowl sets.
The lower shelf as painted using Annie Sloan's Graphite chalk paint. The sides in ASCP Aubusson blue.
The side view of the lovely inset side panels and the original air holes to let air in the cupboard.
The oil stained cupboard with rough cut metal on top on the day I bought it, the "Before."
The jelly cupboard with the door on.
