Can anyone recommend a company that sells foam, that I can cut to desired width/length, to replace worn out foam in seat cushions?

    My expensive sofa cushions collapsed after only 2 years. I found a quality upholsterer. He took my 3 cushions, & replaced the stuffing w/top grade heavy foam. After 10 years they are still like new! He has all the right equipment to do it right. It was a bit pricey - about $50 a cushion, but well worth every penny. This is NOT a diy project without the right machinery for perfect results.

    Sailrite and DIY Upholstery Supply are also good online options. They offer different thicknesses and densities. I know DIY will cut it per your specs. Sailrite also offers INCREDIBLE videos, BTW.

    Joann Fabric, just keep in mind if your foam is thicker than an inch it is very hard to cut evenly.

    Google it for your town/area. We have a local shop here that is a "foam outlet" and they will custom cut the foam for the slip covers! I had my entire huge sectional done for a couple hundred dollars! MUCH cheaper than a new couch!

    We when to Walmart and bought the 2.5 inch foam for the beds , cuts beautifully with a serrated knife, measured and cut. we have covered kitchen chairs and patio furniture. Good Luck

    I always get mine from the Army Navy store. You know, the ones that see camoflage nettings for tanks and guns. No kidding, and they cut to size as well and have many, many size thicknesses. It's all really good!

    Look online for local upholstery supplier. They should carry foam in several different sizes and thicknesses. Please note that "cheap" foam will break down more quickly so you want good dense foam.

      Yes, since you are investing time and money, only buy the better, dense foam. Even in a smaller town like Lakeland, FL, there is a mattress making company that will cut to your pattern the size, depth, and density you wish, or you can buy the whole piece and cut yourself. I always bring a paper pattern. Why bother with the cutting; and, I don't have odd pieces to hoard and never need!

    You could buy sheets of foam/ coir foam of various thickness at places selling/ making mattresses. Like in India in Lucknow, Aminabad is a good place.

    I have gotten foam from Jo-Ann's fabric and craft store. The thickness that I bought was five inches. I am using it as a cushion topped with a chaise lounge cushion in my clawfoot bathtub in my living room. It has held out very well. I sit in my tub daily.

    Hancock Fabric. Ask by phone first when they will be on sale. We were looking for it, and the clerk told us if we could wait three weeks it would be half off. For our sofa, that went from $140 to $70. Then I used the old sofa foam for my patio cushions; worked out great, since the patio cushions alone would have been $160.

    They closed one here too. I am so bummed We waited many years to have one near our area . Everything was on other sides of town. I am glad that our Walmarts have started up their fabric sections again. Fabric stores have always been my happy place. :) My other happy place is Hobby Lobby. I really don't go often, but enjoy it when I do. Sorry I wasn't more helpful.

    Only buy high density foam for seating it is way more durable. I ended up buying a rolled up foam mattress topper from Walmart and cutting it with an electric carving knife. It was the most economical. (Dining chair) seats were too wide for the precut pieces Walmart sells and larger pieces from other places were just too pricey for 8 chairs.

    Your best bet for quality would be an upholstery shop. You can get them to cut what you need, the size you need, but you need it about a half inch wider all around the board - to allow for compression when you cover it. You also want to use a good dacron layer over the foam, positioned between the fabric and foam. The upholsterer can sell that to you, too. Dacron serves as a buffer against abrasion that would typically wear the foam out and or the fabric out before its time. Invest in spray adhesive to anchor the dacron to the foam.

    Foam can be very expensive since it is petroleum based. Your best bet is JoAnn's when they are having a great sale or when you have a 50% off coupon. Your other option is to take an Upholstery class. Usually they will have an Upholstery Supplier that will give you a break on supplies such as foam.

    I bought foam from lowes or home Depot. They sell it for camping. I think it was $25 for 24x72x4. Much cheaper than anywhere else. I made a cushions for my 2 window seats. Love them

    Try asking a local theater company, foam is used a lot for props. Otherwise, perhaps a place that sells beds and mattresses could help. 'Topper Pads' to go on top of a mattress and sold by bed places could be used (they come in different thicknesses and you could double up)?

    I get mine at JoAnn Fabrics when they have a 50% off or more coupon!. They have many options and you can look at it online first to see what you need :) Don't forget to use the trick others have mentioned- put your new foam cushion in a plastic trash bag to slide it into the pillowcase, then remove the bag. Everyone says it slides right in :D

    The best price you'll ever get is to go to your local foam shop in an industrial area. Mine, in CA, also cuts to size with no extra charge. You can pick the density, then I give them the dimentions or give them a pattern that I have made. I've done this for so long they know my name. Much much cheaper than Joann Store.

    Amazon cushion upholstery foam. can be cut in lengths. Also if you can find a discount upholstery store near you, you will be able to get foam fairly reasonable. Jo'Anns fabrics sells foam too, but make sure you get a 1/2 price coupon before purchasing it there.
