Hey Hometalkers!!!

The holidays are upon us. I just wanted to post some quick holiday tips for your home that may help cut costs and such. ...»

-When decorating, less is more.

I don't care if you use colored lights, white lights, blinking lights or no lights when you decorating, but simple light displays always seem to give the feeling of charm. Wrap a single string of lights around your mailbox or light post. Outline the windows in lights, but do not cover your roof in them. If you MUST have an inflatable in your front yard, limit it to ONE inflatable. Make people admire your home, not gawk at it. :-)

-Place ornaments IN the tree as well as ON the tree. By this I mean, take some larger ornaments and actually partially bury them in the branches. It will fill areas that may be sparse and fill it out. Don't be afraid to use some non-traditionbal colors as accents. Throw a blue or orange something or other in there to give it some style and pop.

-Research a local farm that allows you to chop your own tree. Not only is this a great family/couples activity, but it can save you a bunch of money when its all said and done. You are paying for several other things when you buy a tree from the parking lot of a grocery store.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!

  • AFTER-side landscape

We just completed phase 1 of our landscaping project.

Just wanted to share some BEFORE & AFTER photos I took of the project. The grass gets plenty of sun, we have dogs and do not have an in ground sprinkler system, so we decided to lay bermuda sod as opposed to fescue. PHASE 2 photos to come soon...

  • This game room is amazing! Not only does is it have a nice rustic feel, but it comes w/a full bar!
  • Outdoor living it the 'hottest' thing these days. I love a fire pit in the winter! So sexy! 1
  • I love these built-ins. Awesome on its own, but even better if the doors open up to an ent. system.
  • I have a slight obsession with perfectly manicured lawns. This would be my dream!

Just a quick tip for all of you that may be moving furniture on carpet.

We all know how annoying those indentions in the rug can be, so here's a VERY simple solution to getting rid of them. Simply place an ice cube in the dented carpet and letting it melt. ...»
Once its melted, take a soft bristled brush and in small circles...PRESTO! The rug should come back to its original state and no one will ever know any different. HAPPY DENT REMOVING!!
