Adding a wheelchair ramp and needed to know 1) how to kill all grass under and around it, 2)also, looking for some

ideas on ways to do this that it won't take away from curb appeal, but add to it, such as, extending the top portion into a longer porch, some very low maintenance bushes that really ...»
would not need much care, etc. 3) if original steps going into the house can be left in place would you leave them or take them do away with them? Trying to get a few pictures as requested to load on Sunday/Monday.

@ Better Outdoor living - I am not building it myself because it needs to be exact for ADA ...»
compliance in PA, so I when it comes time, that will be done. I know I said I would set up pictures, but to show you guys, but I found a company thru one of the people in the neighborhood who had his house - wheelchair ramp, bathroom and any other necessary changes done by them. I will be back to ask what y'all think of their ideas. I like the idea of a lattice fence.

Home Maintenance & Repairs: Not all of the vents in my house seem to be working properly, and my thermostat sometimes is set higher, then what the

house temperature reads. Examples: Thermostat gets turned to 68 and 5 hours later, it says it is 63 in here. I can feel heat coming out of some vents, but not others, or else it felels ...»
like cooler air coming out. I just had a new circuit board put in three years ago, nothing is obsturcting the vents and I did check to make sure they were all open. Any suggestions? I am tired of freezing in the smaller of two bathrooms, and a couple of other rooms. HELP!!!

Oh that's such good news. Time, instead of money, spent is always a good result to a problem.

  • The before picture really doen't show how bad the deck was!!!!
  • 1

I used "Restore" on my deck this past summer. Comes in multiple colors, and did exactly what I was told it would do -

filled in cracks, covered well - no sanding invoived, Just powerwash, lite scrubbing at "mossy areas" and bang! I chose to not back roll the second coat and leave the finish product textured, to help when walking on it in icy conditions.

@ Paula and Mary - Peace Painting Company told me about this product here on HT. You may want ...»
to contact them to see about cleaning mildew and dirt off. I am almost positive that they will have answers to your problems as, I have had none of the issues that y'all have had (yet). I would be interested in hearing what they say, if you do contact them, just in case...

Home Maintenance & Repairs: Constant dust in the house, and I know it is comeing from forced hot air vent and the AC. How would one go about trying

to get rid of it and a financial leash? I do change the filter's regulary, but would it be worth attempting to save the money to have duct work properly cleaned out? Or should I just ...»
always carry a dust rag and wipe things down a couple times a week, which doesn't really bother me either?

Something I forgot to mention is that dust is 70% dead skin cells. If you have a pet then you ...»
    will be adding to that.

If you are looking for drafts just get a stick of incense, light it then move around your house testing outlets, light switches, windows and doors.

Home Maintenance & Repairs: I have to repair some railings and a wooden board on my front porch. I have heard that it is better to use srews than

nails when doing projects like this. Is it true? If so, what is the difference?

Nails will pop out over time while a wood screw will hold tight. Use galvanized so you don't ...»

Home Maintenance & Repairs: Can someone please tell me how to take apart a garbage disposal and check the lines for blockage of some sort? Liquid

plumber isn't doing the trick and that side of my sink keeps over filling and needing to be plunged. I feel like I am bringing up clumps of dirt? when I stick my hand down and reach the bottom of the disposal.
