Farmhouse style is hot, and this upscale Mason jar chandelier is something that can give you more of an elegant feel that you can customize in any color!
Simple canning jars turn into something elegant that you probably haven't seen before!
Elegant farmhouse style with chandeliers
We started this Mason jar chandelier project with a vintage frame that was way beyond rusty and simply could not be rewired with the holes all plugged up. This one in our home is a filled with candles, so it's a "candelere" and you could do something similar with any vintage or new frame to hang outdoors.
Here is a close up of the chandelier hanging in our kitchen. If the fixture that you find is in good shape electrically, all the better and you may not necessarily need to rewire. We always recommend having electrical checked by someone qualified.

The long crystals on this are antique, but the short crystals we colored by hand. I'll give you the information below of what we used to color them.
To cut the jars to fit your chandelier, we make the holes in our jars with a DRILL PRESS and use a 3/4" diamond bit to make the holes. When cutting or drilling glass, we recommend using cutting oil that you spray on the jar as you cut. Glass becomes HOT as you drill, so oil prevents it from overheating and possibly breaking.

PLEASE BE SURE that you wear goggles and heavy duty work gloves when you cut glass, because there is always the risk with glass of it shattering! It's a good idea to build a jig with a vice and two 1 x 4's to brace the glass jars so that you don't have to hold them in your hand while cutting. This project would be better for a more advanced DIYer to take on.
Endless possibilities for this project in terms of new fixture or old and your color choice!

you can use food coloring and the oven on 200* for like 20 minutes. Or, you can use chalk paint, a foam brush, and water the paint down. the more layers you put INSIDE the mason jar, the less transparent it will be, but there are a couple of different ways to color glass for you.
