Three years ago, a friend of mine sent me a text with a picture of an in-need-of-love empire dresser at a local thrift store. It was a decent price and I absolutely LOVE empire dressers! I jumped in my SUV and drove to the thrift store to make sure someone else got it first. In my excitement, I didn't see all the many imperfections. I have a way of seeing what something can be instead of what it is in it's current state. Sometimes that works and other times, not so much.
I knew I was going to keep this dresser. First because I loved the style. Second, it was going to be a lot of work to fix. There are times I have to pass on furniture because it's so far gone that if I'm not doing it for myself and not to sell, I'd never make a dime.
Well before I got around to making over the dresser, we moved 2 times so it sat for 3 long years waiting for a makeover.
Here's the 'kind of' before picture! I thought I had a before picture on my phone of the dresser all put together, but I didn't have one. I can tell you that on the left side under the drawer opening, a huge chunk had been broken off the front support. Also, the veneer was peeling and it was an overall mess.
After lots for work, sanding, filling with Bondo and so much more, this piece is now gorgeous.
