Is this a weed?

I have this plant growing in our garden where typically only weeds used to grow. So am not sure whether this is a weed or an ornamental plant. I removed all the other weeds and left this alone when we removed the front lawn. Please help identify this plant for me.

It is not a weed. It is an arum italium. Funny name, but beautiful plant. it sometimes takes 2 years or more to grow after being planted. It will send up a white cup-shaped flower, then get a really pretty seed cone that starts green and turns red in the fall.

I have one also. In the summer it is dormant. Plant it in shady moist area where you can see it in winter

looks like Nancy is right or very close. I liked how it looked so googled. It came up as arum italicum tho. Love the common name Italian lords and ladies. The images are beautiful. Glad you did not pull it out as a weed. I do not think I would have either.

I agree. Arum italium. U have a good eye. Pot it & it will multiply fast. I have 2 in large pots & they r so lush & beautiful. I get compliments on them often. I have to bring them in during freezing weather. They r about 6 years old now. Good luck.

Mine r n pots. I have never tried to plant them in the ground. I often find pieces hanging & broken off. I may try to plant some in my flower beds next spring!

First time I've ever seen it, but I sure wish a bird would drop its seed in my front flower bed.

It sure is pretty. It almost looks artificial, that green is so rich.

It looks like an indoor plane (zone 5). I have several and have always called it :Chicken foot" since I don;t know the genus. Roots well in water (water roots not good for direct transplant into s). Or use plant rooting hormone to plant in potting mix. Growth us very similar to philodendron.

It is definitely not a weed. I believe it to be an Elephant Ear plant or one of many Alocasia's. There are many varieties.
