  • Our dog goes potty out those doors and likes to roll around in dirt-he is a lab. We chose large tiles on a diagonal. Slate tone so dirt doesn't show as easily.
  • We painted the walls white, and added outdoor rugs for warmth.
  • A pretty light fixture made it feel like it was on the main floor.

Ceramic Tile For Our Basement Walkout (I have a dog!)

When deciding what to use for the flooring in our basement walkout makeover, we decided carpet would not work because of our dog. We decided ceramic tile would work best. Are we happy we ...»
did it? Yes. Aside from the chill factor, it is working out beautifully.

  • Add a small waterfall to your small pond to keep it properly filtered and aerated (which means less maintenance). 5
  • This 4'x6' pond was installed using a DIY kit. It sits right next to the patio providing a great view. 6
  • The pond often takes center stage in the yard. And look ... no grass to mow! 6
  • An unused corner of the backyard becomes an oasis and is no longer wasted space. 1
  • This small pond and waterfall is tucked beside a patio situated under a deck. A great solution for a spot that was once an eyesore. 3
  • This waterfall has a very shallow pond (just a couple inches deep) for the kids to play in. 3
  • Create a unique deck setting by tucking a pond into the middle of it. 2
  • This small pond reflects its Asian influence. Japanese gardens are typically void of color other than the green of surrounding foliage and the grays and browns of smooth stone. 3

Small Water Gardens

A pond or water garden doesn't have to be large to be enjoyable or beautiful. Small ponds provide the sight and sound of water in the landscape and will attract birds, butterflies, dragonflies, and more!

Hi Aquascape Inc.!! I do have an Aquascape pond system and love it. We have the rocks all on ...»
the bottom and sides of the pond so you don't see the liner at all. I get the bacteria going in the Spring and my water stays clear all the time.

Thank you all for the lovely comments. Yes, Jann, an old wooden bench. I love benches ...»
throughout my gardens to sit and watch all the beauty God sends my way each day. There is always something going on in the yard. Yesterday, I found a turtle eating the strawberries I saved for him. Each year the same fellow shows up, at least I think it's the same one ;-) He likes the tomatoes next. I always make sure I leave some on the ground for him.

Here is a picture of my New Dawn Climbing Rose. They were beautiful this year.
