Gather the kid's crayons and melt them down to create a wall hanging for fall. I shared this idea on Hometalk last Christmas. Now I'm recreating the DIY project for fall. I adore textured look of the melted crayons and burlap together.
Note: I will be sharing a how-to tutorial on Hometalk's Facebook page LIVE this Thursday at 10 am PST, 11 am MST, 12 noon CST, 1 pm EST. Join me to ask questions about the project.
I will be adding the live video here after Thursday.
The supplies I use are: board to mount the burlap, piece of burlap slightly smaller than the board, crayons {you can buy boxes of crayons of one color on Amazon,} craft heat gun {available on Amazon,} craft paint, paint brush, craft glue, knife, scissors, cutting board, pencil, drawing of a pumpkin. There's a download on my website for the drawing I made.
I transferred the drawing image to the burlap using a pencil. If you lay the drawing under the burlap you can see the image through the weaved fabric.
Next is the hardest part. If you have children near, I suggest having them do this step!! Remove the paper from the crayons...ugh!

Next chop the crayons like you would carrots.
Next, sprinkle the crayon bits in the middle of your pumpkin drawing. Then carefully and slowly melt the crayons onto the burlap. More tips will be available on the live video.
While the crayons cool down, paint the mounting board. When dry, paint with a layer of craft glue.
Then smooth your burlap down on the center of your board. Notice I melted a brown crayon for the stem. Then tied burlap threads around the stem.

I choose white crayons because it fits our style in our home. This can be done with orange crayons or any colors in the box to fit your style.

As well, this could be any basic shape.

Cute idea to make it your own! Love burlap! Fun to watch video. Too bad you couldn't have a larger screen so you didn't have to keep switching back and forth. Thanks for sharing your craft ideas.
