Updating Our Landscaping

Updating the landscaping in the front yard has been on our to-do list task since the day we moved into our current home. The landscaping was old, overgrown, dated, and poorly designed.

Earlier this year we finally started this project. And although we're not done, the house looks INSTANTLY better.

We removed all the bushes and shrubs, most of which were quite mature with large stumps and deep roots. We did this by trimming off all the branches, and then digging out the stumps. The larger stumps required some help from a tow chain, a hitch, and our minivan.

With the bushes removed, we leveled the beds, and spread a layer of bark mulch to keep the weeds at bay. I love how mulch creates a clean and tidy bed, even in an empty flower bed. It really does keep the weeds away.

Although our plans were to keep the beds empty for the season, we came across a great deal and planted a few rhododendron. I can't wait to continue design and planting in our new landscape beds.

I don't know what your garden looked like before, but it looks like you are on your way to a lovely new landscape.
