Help with buffet style

Could someone tell me what manufacturer/style this is and a little bit about it? I bought this several years ago at an antique shop and I believe it has been refinished. Is the detail hand-painted or was this original? Thanks!

It looks like original mahagony It's beautiful. Try looking I. The top drawers or the back for clues. This is one I wouldn't paint. It almost looks like Bird's Eye Maple in the top center. Great piece!

Lovely buffet. The detail is wood marquetry(sp) not paint. It is a thin veneer of very delicately cut and glued wood, rather like a jigsaw puzzle, that is applied to the underlying wood case. This is a very beautiful detail and one that could be easily damaged by an over aggressive refinish job. What makes you think it has been redone? Is there something the photos don't show? You have a very artfully done piece.

This is a beautiful piece and I wouldn't do a thing to it except some polish. Looking at the detail and quality of craftsmanship I would put it at least 50 years old or older. I just love the look of this piece. Your very lucky to have it.

Thank you for your help! Actually I was going to sell this piece because I don't have a place for it and I was trying to find out how to list it. I would never think of painting it. I thought it must have been refinished because it is too perfect. And yes, it is gorgeous!
