The best source for hardware.

Question

I have an entire box of vintage and antique drawer pulls. I do not however have any for the new project I ma doing, my antique dressing table. I would love to know of a good source for nice glass drawer pulls, that wont cost a fortune. Im in oregon, I dont know if there is a hobby lobby here. Any thoughts?

Do you have a Habitat for Humanity store there? We have a couple here in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. They are very random and hit and miss, but I have seen a lot of pulls in there before.

They have several of the Habitat for Humanity stores in Oregon and Washington THey are a great source. Also look on Ebay I have gotten alot of my drawer pulls there for a great price

Check out a Hobby Lobby if you have one near you. As a matter of fact, this week they have their selection 50% off. They have some very cool knobs and pulls that range from plain antiqued glass knobs to colorful and even cast iron. This is where I go first to look for any knobs! for an antique cabinet I have where the knobs were gone from previous owners I found antique looking ones that look as if they been there forever.

Also check out your local small hardware store, if they don't have what you want a lot of times they can order for you from their online catalog. These stores get weekly trucks in so you don't have to wait long.

You have a wonderful recycle store near you that my daughter took me to - they have all sorts of building and finishing materials and hardware. It is called 'Bring - Planet Improvement Center'. If you haven't looked there yet, I'd recommend it.

Do a google search for antique or reclaimed hardware. The are several catalog companies that specialize in antique hardware. Also check you local antique stores.

I always check out Amazon first for everything. I have an old dresser I am going to redo..I found some dragonfly knobs and some porcelain pulls for it. Amazon had some great glass knobs that I almost chose.

Pottery Barn had the glass pulls and handles in their Pottery Barn for Kids catalogue. Try looking them up, I have a very similar vanity that we redid for my granddaughter's room at our house. Looks great!

You might try the Van Dykes Restorers website. They specialize in vintage and antique hardware. They have a great selection and while most of it is a bit pricey, I have found lots of beautiful pieces in their clearance items for pretty reasonable prices.

I repurpose vintage furniture for my antiques business and look for 'lots' on Ebay, as they are frequently available at a good price. However for glass knobs my first choice is always Hobby Lobby! They are always at half price, making them 3-4 each!! Clear, pink, green, you name it!
