How do you keep Geckos out of your house in FL?

Please help. I am not a native Floridian and I have a home in FL. Whenever I visit there I have to clean up all of the remnants of the dead Geckos and their telltale signs that they have been there.Do people that live in FL fulltime have to exterminate their homes for these darling creatures? Or are they just a fact of life that you have to get used to them along with the panthers, pythons, wild pigs, turkeys, tegues, gators, armadillos and other assorted God's creatures?BTW what is the best way to clean up Gecko poo? It seems to smear and not come off of clothing and fabric even with washing. Please help!!!!!!

Oh you are so funny! I wish I could but pets aren't allowed at this place because of the two 13' gators that live at this place.:(

lolllllll. Yep a cat would take care of that problem. But here in Texas even my outside kitties miss a few and they slip in the door and run around the ceiling as I chase them back toward the door with a broom. And to all the Gecko lovers, I have to chase them out of my house because the inside cats do really bad things to them. :) And why in the world are you living near GATORS, 13' gators?

There is a 5,000 acre lake there called Lake Weohyakapka and at this place the two small lakes which are more like ponds feed into this lake and this is where these two gators have decided to live.Oh did you miss the part about the panthers? We have deer crossing signs here in Northen VA in the city and we see them quite frequently only with all of the construction going on around here they haven't been around much lately.Ok, back now to FL, on the hwy that is about 2.5 miles from where we live in FL there are signs that say" Panther crossing for the next 13 miles" and they are not kidding. One night my husband and I came out of the local Walmart at 10:15 pm and we got into the truck to go home and this store is 5 miles outside of the supposed panther area well apparently this one panther did not get the memo because as soon as we turned out of the parking lot onto the main hwy a real live panther ran across the road in front of us.My husband couldn't belive it but this was not the first time that this has happened to me. The other time was in CA in 2004 along the PCH at 4 pm in the afternoon. When my son and I were driving across the country.Another long story.Anyway he couldn't believe it! We talked to some locals and they said that they had never seen any panthers and now I know why. They aren't out shopping at 10:15 at night apparently when the panthers think it is dinner time.I told my husband that if we lived in FL we would need 3 things. Boots, a Boat and a 12 guage shotgun because I wasn't going to let my pets out at night or go in the backyard without some type of weapon.A girl can never be too careful!:)

I live in Hernando County, Florida (west coast) and yes, we do have a plethora of lizards (cute, aren't they?). I live in a mobile home and I think the height off the ground helps keep them out, although once in a while one will get in. If you house is at ground level you will have a harder time keeping them out. All I can suggest is to make sure all cracks are sealed and all windows fit tight. Other than that, get used to them. I did. Unfortunately lots of God's critters like our warm weather also.

Well folks I am back from FL now and I guess that I will just have to learn to live with the little guys because I am not there full time to keep after them. I did see quite a bunch of them while I was there and I did get to catch a few in my bathtub and take them outside.I saw a transparent one about 3" long crawling along the ceiling one night and that was pretty cool. I couldn't catch that one. He was too quick!! I did get to take a picture of one that was outside of my place. See if you can find him in this pic!LOL:)

I live in Florida too and I love Geckos. Since I live alone, I'm not in and out all day so they have little opportunity to get in. When they do I have often been able to catch them and put them outside. I've not found any dead ones, nor any poop! I would think if one had kids in and out all day, or a doggie door, you might get them inside. I wouldn't live in Southern Florida for anything...pythons, huge lizards, alligators, etc. No thank you!

Keep the geckos - no flies, mosquitoes or other bugs will escape their clutches.
