DIY Wall-Mounted Coat Rack

We made this DIY wall-mounted coat rack in just a couple of hours. It was super easy to throw together and makes a huge difference in how our entryway looks and feels. We can store so much on the new hooks, and it was so easy to build ourselves. See the full tutorial on my blog for more details.
We started with an oak board from the shelving section of the lumber aisle at our local hardware store. We cut it down to create two boards - one that's about 5 1/2 inches wide for the back part, and one that's 4 1/4 inches wide for the shelf.

We created pocket holes for the back board using our Kreg Jig and attached the two boards together.
We clamped the boards together to hold them in place while we were screwing them in, and also added some wood glue to ensure maximum stability!
Once everything was dry, we gave the whole thing a quick sanding to make sure it's totally smooth, then used some Danish oil to bring out the natural colors of the wood.
Once it was all done, we added some cute hooks for the front (see the full blog post for details on the hooks) and hung it up! You can see more photos and details on where we got everything on the full blog post!
