Need help picking colors for these 3 stools

I picked up these three solid wood stools for a buck a piece and want to refinish them for resale. I need some ideas on color. I was thinking black legs, a hammered metal spray for the metal bands and either natural finish for the top or an off white distressed look. Any ideas?

Sounds like a good plan if you don't want to deal with the nicks in the one stool. I'm adventurous, I go with the flow, they seem to look rather diamond shaped I think I would make diamond shaped nicks all the way around each stool, just a different look, I'd strip of course re-do the metal with chrome spray paint, do the whole stool in a shiny black lacquer, either put chrome bands around the seats or a metallic fabric in geometric shapes with padded cushion seat. Or paint Harlequin diamond shapes in chrome and black shiny black . Using the paint you have already painted it in black and just add the Chrome diamond shape. Or I would personally do them in an Austrian or German whimsical shiny true red and forest green lacq, with gold traditional designs from Germany.

Thank You Sandra - Your plan is a little too adventurous for me. I want to try to fill in those diamond shape nicks if I can. But thanks for the feedback

I would spray paint the metal to look iron. Paint the spindles a nice clean white with chalk paint and then wax. I would then leave the top natural but sand it to soften all those gouges and stain it with a walnut and seal it with a poly satin finish.

Hi Laurie...I love black but I think contrast of a crisp white will make these stools look fresh. I hope you'll post the finished product xox

I like your idea! Black legs with the natural tops.

I don't care for the metal. Could you do away with it? Like the idea of black legs with refinished top.

I agree, I don't really care for the metal band either, but I think it is there for stability. I think if I spray paint it with a hammered/texture look, it will look good. Thanks for your feedback.

I wanted to add that I think the metal band is there because these stools swivel, so it's there to put your feet on to propel you around.

I like contraste. So, if you like black legs, I would do the top a bright color. Red, yellow or even green.

Hmmmmm, now that's something to consider. However, I plan to sell these and needs to keep them neutral to appeal to a wider audience, I think. Thanks for the thought, though.

I think you could clean the tops and finish them in a satin finish, then paint the legs in a white and distress them. White is a classic color and probably easy to sell. Another option is to paint the top with a white paint and distress it. Maybe the legs could be a darker color like black or dark blue, but distressed also.

I painted mine with red and one in blue.. I also accented the legs with white coming up from bottom of leg to about 1/4 up .. everyone likes
