Neutrals in various tones work well, I noticed you have sage green in your cushions this could work well.
  • I would take one of the pillows to the paint store and have them match the deep red color and paint one wall that color.

My opinion paint the largest wall with an accent color for a focal point in the room. Once you decide on that choose a complimenting color for the balance of the room.

I am in sync with Georgeann - but after you paint one wall red - use that pillow and also match the sage color and paint the remaining area in that color

I also think you should paint the long walk red (or the green) but the rest should be a neutral beige. I think red and green walls would be too dark and Christmassy.

We use light greens and blues throughout our house and it makes it look brighter and cleaner. Planning a light yellow for the kitchen. The cool tones are great for the warmer Texas climate we live in . These colors really go with everything and would add a hint of color to your room. We have an area rug in the living room with black, burgundy , green, and gold in it. Or, you might go with a cheerful multicolor on ecru background modern style. I would put the room color in the rug and accessories that can be changed easily and not on the walls. Believe me, the red or dark color walls will get old fast. : )

I have no idea what color you should paint it as that's a very personal decision. But I did want to mention one thing to think about as I have made a big mistake in the past cuz I didn't think it thru!! Your dining room/eating area is really part of that whole room. Be sure to include your table item colors in your paint scheme. Tablecloths, placemats, actual dishes, centerpieces may clash with a new accent wall color or overall room color. That's what happened to me. Luckily, I love to shop so instead of repainting a better color match, I went out and bought new tableware and centerpiece to go with my new paint. Expensive but a lot of fun for me. Just place a few items out so you can see them with your paint swatches. Good luck!! (P.S. I love an accent wall!)

Just thought of this. On this same email notice your question is in, a person redid their bathroom and the color paint is really lovely....best I've ever seen. It's a Canadian paint company so should be easy for you to find! Here's the link if you need it: http://www.hometalk.com/diy/bathroom/make-your-own-farmhouse-bathroom-yourself-3210913...

Before you start painting, I'd do some removal of some objects, etc. The rooms are far too busy to create the illusion of space. Then, whatever is one of your favorite colors, is the color before you lighten it up. But you definitely need a color other than beige. Take a look at the room. Beige sort of furniture, beige walls, beige curtains in window, Yep, color is the key. I don't know what is on the other side of the room, but if it's beige walls, etc. definitely paint a nice color. Maybe a little bolder than a pale color. I done interior design before and you have nice furnishings, etc. You just need color. I'd rather see a red wall to match your pillows than just beige.

A light yellow -ish gold colour will make your red accents pop! Take a pillow with you to the paint store

I'm with Andrea. A pale, cool gray would go well with the tans and browns, make your nice wood floor stand out more, and make the red accents pop.

Mist of us have too much stuff but if it's the way we want it that's fine. A gray sounds good too. Maybe you could bring in more Color with red drapes and picture frame borders.

I happen to think your furnishings, window coverings, etc. that are beige are beautiful. I am in the school of thought that beige isn't boring but beautiful - IF - there is colour added in your choice of pillows, throws, etc. which you have done. Red seems to be a colour that you like. I would not make a feature wall in red. Did that once and your eye immediately goes to that wall and tends to "miss" the other features in the room. I too am going to be painting, if not all of my house, a lot of the rooms. I'm leaning towards a pale, watery green for the main areas; ie. living room and dining room. I do have a lot of neutral in my home, however, instead of red as an accent colour I have blues and greens. I have always liked beiges, browns, blues, greens, with a shot of grey. I don't follow trends, I do what I like not what some magazine or online article says is trending at the moment. Think about 2 or even 3 colors that you like and go and buy sample tins of it. Bit pricey but well worth it. Paint fairly large squares of the colors in different areas on your walls. You will be shocked how different the same color looks in different areas of your house due to the light, etc. Good luck with it and post some pics. when you are finished.

I didn't paint the actual fireplaces red! Just the walls behind them....

Are you looking to paint the entire room? If so, I greyish taupe color, something warm. Also consider removable wall paper for a wall or two. I only suggest removable because I THINK (haven't done it) it would be easier than regular wall paper and if you tire of it, it comes off easily. Lot's of webstores and box stores sell it. https://www.grahambrown.com/ca/wallpaper/coll...

I'm sorry...I do not like gray. How about an accent wall in an olive green and the rest of the walls in a golden tone. Accent walls are usually a focal point so pic a wall that could be a focus point. Good luck!

Greenish teal blue would be beautiful with you furniture. Not aqua though😃
