Dealing with a dusty wall unit

I bought a cheepo wall unit to use in my home office and it is a dust magnet. It is made of "manufactured wood" with an almost paper-like veneer. Every speck of dust in the county is drawn to this thing. I can take a microfiber dust cloth and rub it and all it does is push the dust together. I've tried numerous rags, dusters, wipes, etc. and none work. Is there a product that I can use to break the almost (but not really) static electricity attraction this creature has? Here's a photo of the type of wall unit it is (mine doesn't have a TV on it).

If it is possible, try to determine the source of the dust and seal that up. If you have carpeting, some kinds will give off dust. Vacuum regularly. I use Orange Glo on just about everything, even my stove top and Japanese lacquer ware. It cleans without leaving any dust at all and helps to preserve the wood. If you are not fond of this idea, I recommend a microfiber duster. They are made for this. You may want to spray the duster with a furniture polish before use. : )

My piano has a finish like that. The salesman suggested that I lightly spray a micro-fiber cloth with water, then dust. Works like a charm.

I always dust with a damp cloth, and it works for me. If you suspect it is static from electronics, I would dust with a damp cloth, let dry, then rub a fabric softener sheet over the surface. If it is still really bad, maybe you need a finer air filter for your heating/cooling system. Although I have never tried a staticide, maybe it can help too: https://www.amazon.com/AntiStatic-Liquid-32-A...

Oh my, you are smart. Brilliant! I see that the Quaternary ammonium has a positive ion which will counteract (neutralize) the negative static-electric charge. Or something like that. Water to dilute and alcohol to help with evaporation/drying. Cool. Now I understand why it works. Thanks, Mr. Wizard.

I'm getting ready to move and I think I'm just going to ask the movers to leave this in the carport at the new place. It won't take long to paint it a lighter color. End of problem!

Mine is a lighter colour, and the damp dusting works fine. Good luck.
