In all honesty are laminate hardwood flooring durable?
I'm doing a remodeling project and don't want the expense of real wood flooring. The laminate looks nice but just wondering do they "wear" easily? Thanks!
Again, I am also in Georgia and I am seeking a contractor to lay my flooring. The living room, eat in kitchen and hallways are in laminates. Now I am converting a bedroom into a closet (yippeee) and I do not want to use the same installer. They were terribly expense.
I have 6 kids and 2 Labs. We have Shaw Trestle Ridge Hickory Laminate in our living room. Great floor with a 25 year residential warranty. Finally found something our labs won't eat.
Metro, that's a really pretty floor ~ kudos ..... One thing I forgot to mention is: Dark Cherry + High gloss = Carrying a dust rag in your back pocket. It's BEAUTIFUL! (for about 2 minutes if you have kids) I chose form over function and I loved it (and I didn't mind ... most of the time). Just wanted you to be aware that the dark, high gloss is a little more work because it shows footprints and pollen.
Derek at O & S installations, owner on this site, replaced my stairs, very meticulous, my husband calls him the "stair whisperer", does flooring wood, laminate - lumber liquidators has a great sale going on now.
Laminate floors have good durability. It should last you for many, many years. A typical manufacturer's warranty will be for around 10+ years.
Some of the higher quality laminates are OK. They wear OK.
They have their drawbacks though.
Some real estate agents will tell you that laminate flooring reduce the value of your home.
They cannot be fixed if damaged. ...»
If you can afford it, look for an engineered flooring product (either raw or prefinished) that has a "wear layer" (real wood) that is 1/4" thick.
That thickness allows for refinishing down the road.
Who is laying your laminates??? I am seeking someone to complete one of my bedrooms.
